Is the conference building accessible?
The entire building is barrier-free; there are three lifts to access all floors and the basement. The doors of the main entrance may be opened automatically, more info (https://www.accessable.co.uk/edinburgh-napier-university/access-guides/craiglockhart-building).
How do I tell the organizers about my needs?
Our registration is handled by a central system. If you have specific needs you will be able to fill them in the registration form. If you have further needs that you would like to tell us about before the conference please email them to AudioMostly2023@napier.ac.uk.
If you need to tell us about additional requirements or need assistance on the day of the conference, please inform a conference committee member or volunteer. Assistance can also be requested through our reception desk, which will be staffed at all times.
Can I bring my personal assistance with me?
You can bring your personal assistance without having to pay a second entrance fee for them. If possible, please let us know in advance.
What are the arrangements for presenters?
The presenting area is flat or has no stairs in all our rooms except our main auditorium. Please, tell us in advance in our registration form if a flat presenting area is essential for you.
A platform for laptops/notes will be provided, and a seat or stool will be available as requested.
If you would like assistance operating your presentation slides, please let us know, and a member of the conference team can assist.
How much walking or standing will be needed?
All main sessions are in the same building so will require minimal walking. All floors are connected by both stairs and an elevator. A small amount of seating will be provided during break and poster sessions. The concert will be seated.
Can a student volunteer assist me during the conference?
Student volunteers will be on hand to help attendees who would like some assistance with navigation, meal service, or other accessibility needs. Please ask directly if you would like volunteer assistance at the conference or email AudioMostly2023@napier.ac.uk.
Can I bring my assistance dog?
Assistance dogs are welcome, please let us know in advance if you have any requirements.
Will there be large print copies of the program available?
We aim to minimise the amount of printed copies of the programme.

What food service will be provided?
Tea, coffee, and water will be provided during breaks, as well as lunch on all days. A conference dinner will be held and can be selected/deselected during registration. Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements so these can be catered for.
Will there be a quiet or prayer room?
Yes, there are different quiet spaces around the conference space for attendees who wish to take a break from the main conference area for any reason. We also provide a prayer room, which is Room 4/32 located on the 4th floor of the old part of the building.
What are the toilet facilities at the venue?
There is a gender-neutral toilet in each part of the building on the 1st floor, and accessible toilets are available on every floor (gender-neutral and gender-specific).
Will there be the option to indicate my pronoun to other attendees?
Yes, conference attendees will be encouraged to indicate their pronouns on conference name tags. You can use our registration tool to select your preferences.
Will the conference be a smoke-free environment?
Smoking is not permitted in any of the conference buildings nor any of the venues used for conference evening events. Attendees who wish to smoke must do so outside and use the bins provided. It is useful to note that smoking is also not allowed inside public buildings in UK including restaurants, cafes, and bars.
What if I have a medical emergency or health problem during the conference?
The Emergency Services helpline in UK is available by calling 999 for critical or life threatening situation and 111 for any other minor injury clinics.
